Short description of error
Materials are displayed in an averaged color or black when a image texture is connected to the colour of a shader.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Loading defaulst scene
  • Unwrap cube
  • Texture Coordinate into Image Texture into color of shader (Principled or Diffuse, tested with connected or disconnected texture coordinate with same result)
  • The textures appear if you edit this object.

Though there indeed seems to be a refresh issue of some sort, it is still a little bit early to report those bugs for 2.8 due to following policy:
