If a GP stroke is appended into the default workspace, blender crashes once you switch to the 2D Animation workspace.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open blender
  2. Add GP Stroke
  3. Save
  4. Open blender in default view
  5. Append stroke from the saved file
  6. Switch to 2D Animation workspace

Just to be clear step 6 is to add a 2D Animation workspace.
