Short description of error

When I try to render in Cycles, either an image or animation, Blender immediately crashes
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

1. Switch from EEVEE to Cycles.
2. Click Render, or Ctrl-F12
3. Program crashes

Did this three times in a row.

Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).
