Selecting another, not selected object in the outliner should jump out of edit-mode

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Have active object in edit mode, then clicking on other item in outliner window should exit edit mode and select clicked item.

Ha! Yes, it should! Is this new? Must have missed that on Blender today. But thanks anyway!!! What am i supposed to do now? How do i set this thread to solved please?
