Short description of error
When multiple objects are in edit mode, it is hard to select a component of the object in the front, this doesn't happen when the object are joined.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Select two objects
  • Tab into edit mode, edge mode for example
  • Make it so one object is in front of the other one
  • Try to select an edge by clicking on a face

This should have the same effect than when one object is in edit mode, selecting one of the edges around the face. But it often select an edge of the other object.

Could you prepare a simple .blend file that shows the problem? Would be good if I could just open the file, click at one specific point, and the result is not as one would expect. Thanks.

I did a small blend file, you have to try to select one edge by clicking on the blue face from the camera view, it is not that easy. I did another camera with the two objects joined, and it is way easier to select an edge by clicking anywhere on the blue face.

ok, I see the problem. The selection does not really behave as expected sometimes. It selects edges in the back that are not visible from view. Also it often takes many clicks until the edge in the front is selected again.

Hey, I tried this file again, and I get a crash after a few selections (just 10 or 20 rapid random clicks on the blue face).
