Shading Error
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

System Information
Operating system: Linux 64 Ubuntu
Graphics card: Nvidia 1080 GTX

Blender Version
Broken: 2.80 2018-12-19, Hash: a91886e76ebd
Short description of error
When choosing the "Single" option from the shading menu the display of objects disappear. However they do remain visible if you assign the objects a material.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

  1. Open new scene - delete cube, light, and camera - Add a sphere to scene
  2. Change "shading" menu to "Single or "Random" (Sphere is invisible), Choosing the "Material" option seems to diplay the sphere even though there is no material applied.
  3. Assign the sphere a new material (Object now becomes visible in viewport) with the "Single" option or "Random" option.

William Reynish (billreynish) lowered the priority of this task from 90 to 50.

I get the same issue with random colors and objects with no material applied.
