Box/circle select does not display the rectangle/circle (2.43RC3 and 2.42a)
Closed, ArchivedPublicKNOWN ISSUE

Description

Hello,

The BKEY (box select) and BKEY+BKEY (circle select) never display the box or circle on MacBooks, with both Blender 2.42a and 2.43RC3. (This is quite inconvenient!)

Configuration: MacBook (Intel GMA 950 graphics card) at the most up-to-date software level [Mac OS X 10.4.8 (darwin 8.8.3), Blender v2.42a and 2.43RC3 (both Intel and PowerPC versions)].

Thanks!

EOL

PS: the behavior of the box select seems to be normal on PowerPC Macs with the same software configuration!

This sounds like a graphics chip/driver issue.

What hardware are the PowerPC Macs using?

To respond to stiv's question about the PowerPC Mac hardware: the PowerPC Mac I tested Blender (2.42a) on has an ATI Radeon 9600 XT.

This is a driver bug, it is mentioned on the download page.

This is a generic request to test your bug report and see if it is still an issue in 2.5alpha2 if so please let me know by making a comment in this report ie 'also in 2.5alpha2' and I will add it to the 2.5 bug list.

With OS X 10.6.2, and the same configuration as in the original post, both BKEY (box select), and CKEY (circle select) seem to be working (I see a box with dashes, or a circle with dashes, whose diameter can be changed with the mouse wheel).

I do not have access to Mac OS X 10.4 on Intel anymore, so I cannot test Blender 2.5a2 on the machine of the original post.

PS: my previous post refers to Blender 2.5a2.
