Cycles GPU render carsh with RX 580
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Operating system... Win 10 Home Ver. 1803 OS Build 17134.523

Graphics card... Radeon RX 580

Blender 2.80.39 worked on this version for a month then crashes started

Blender 2.80.41 b0dee09a6d55 2019 01 19 replaced older version with this latest version but still crashes.

change render to cycles with CPU then render scene all is ok but change from CPU to GPU then try and render scene blender crashes

with just start up cube or complex scene. change render settings to cycles with GPU, the click rendering tab on top bar then f12 ....crash

As the last version was fine for the first month I have a feeling this might be an issue with the graphics card and not Blender, But thought I'de start here.

Do you have the latest GPU drivers [which version]?

Please try the official 2.79b release to verify if something changed in your drivers or system setup, or if it's something that changed in Blender.

Also see:
https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/gpu.html

Running Blender from the command line might also print useful errors.

Hi Philipp
Thanks for help
I'm using the most recent version 2019.0109.1906.34385

Hi Brecht

Thanks for your help
I have tried it on version 2.79 and it still crashes when clicking on f12.
So would I be right in thinking this is a problem with my graphics card or some other part of my system and not blender?

Hi Brecht

I ran blender from the command line. and this what I got after a crash
hope this helps.

This shows the crash happens in the AMD OpenCL driver, which makes it quite hard for us to investigate as long as we can't reproduce it.

So far I could not reproduce it, tested with a Radeon Pro WX 9100 card on Windows 10.

Hi Brecht

Should I try and put my graphics cards drivers back to factory settings?

I have re-triaged this report and can not reproduce it.
Can you please check if this is still an issue in latest build?
