Glass and Gloss BDSF Shaders don't work in cycles
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: GTX 1080

Blender Version
Broken: (example: 2.80, edbf15d3c044, master, 2018-11-28, as found on the splash screen)
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
I think that this has been a problem since I started using blender 2.8 but I use cycles and the glass and gloss shaders don't seem to work for me. When I render the shaders out I just end up with a chunk of black that is not clear nor reflective{F7044609}

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

Event Timeline

There are several issues with this blend file.

  1. You have no lights in your scene. Either add a light source, or enable all the World Settings -> Ray Visibility check boxes in the Properties editor.
  2. Render Settings -> Light Paths -> Max Bounces: All of these settings should probably be greater than 0 to get a non-black image.

After making these changes, the scene renders just fine.

That's correct, this is not a bug.
