Random pink color patterns when using Alt-B (Clip View Editing) in Edit mode
Closed, ArchivedPublicKNOWN ISSUE

Description

Using clip-view (Alt-B) to select portion of a closed mesh in Edit Mode will cause random pink color patches to occur within the 3d window, making it impossible to edit the mesh. The problem goes away when switching back to Object Mode. The problem will return if the tab key is pressed to switch back to Edit mode. Everything else seems to work fine.

Testing machine used is:

Dell Inspiron E1705
Duo Centrino processor with 2048 Mbyte main memory
Ati Mobility Radeon X1400 with 256 Mbyte memory
Window Vista Home Premium edition

Thanks!

We cannot really solve this for you... this function works in almost all opengl setups, so you have to seek the error in vista drivers, or a configuration error.

Try at least to download the latest drivers, also check every setting the drivers offer (to begin with: set accelleration off entirely)

I notice that if I start my laptop with only battery power, the problem is gone! If I start my laptop with power cord plug in, the problem is back. Is it possible that certain function of the driver is disabled while running under battery power, and that perticular function is causing the problem?

First time I ever hear about this... but it is possible that the laptop lowers accelleration level.
That is usually part of the driver configuration software. Check it! (and check FAQ on blender.org)
