Short description of error
unlink_objects seems to be broken
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
create cube
make an instance with alt-d
select duplicate, run Unlink_Objects
I can make the object/data single user from the object menu just fine, not sure if there's a difference, just figured I'd point it out.
Not sure I understand correctly:
I set the search function to the space bar, typed in unlink just like in 2.79 (worked with the U hotkey in 2.79,I'm guessing that stood for unlink).
in 2.8, if you type "unlink" [mesh object in objectmode], I am getting:

Make Single User has:
If I run make single user from the search, this seems to work...
is this an addon (are you getting this with)? [or am I still misunderstanding?]
You're right, after checking the error message more carefully it seems it was an issue with the hardops add-on - sorry about that. It got me confused because I used it often in 2.79 and I wasn't realizing it's not the built in way of doing this.
Ok, thx for getting back, in the case of hardops, this is not maintained by blender, please report the issue to the original author instead
