Short description of error

  1. Blender crashes on loading blend files set as a startup file that references objects and/or other datablocks linked from another blendfile. The console outputs that linked objects failed to load. The same blend file works just fine if it is opened in a regular way after Blender has already opened.
  2. Trying to edit a linked image in Texture Paint mode produces a crash. (The possibility should be blocked same to mesh editing, material editing, etc?)

I can't reproduce either with the lastest build. Can you still reproduce this with the latest beta?

No, does not crash in the latest beta.
