Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Scenes with a thousand triangles object and subsurface modifier level two cause the "last operator: add mesh", begins to have delay, more complex scenes generate more delay, is it normal?

**note: If I use the transformation tools in the object properties panel there is no lag

Blender 2.79 with six objects of the same characteristics generates a similar delay.

Not exactly sure I follow correctly:

  • what exactly is "last operator: add mesh"
  • are you adding stuff in objectmode (or with your object selected in editmode)?

With the default cube selected

  1. Enter on edit mode
  2. go to Edge menu in 3D viewport header and clic over Subdivide tool
  3. press F9 to show Adjust Last Operation options and type 10 in Number of Cuts
  4. switch to Object mode
  5. add a Subdivision Surface Modifier
  6. in properites of modifier type 4 in Subdivisions: Viewport
  7. go to Add menu in 3D viewport header and add some mesh, a monkey for example
  8. press F9 to show Adjust Last Operation options

**note: when the cursor is located in the middle of any number field, we can press left click mouse button, while pressing it, we can drag the mouse and the value is change

  1. with the aforementioned method we try to change any location or rotation value and you will see that the object takes time to update
  2. now press N to show the Transform options of the object
  3. with the same method try to change any location or rotation value, you will see that the object is updated instantly
Bastien Montagne (mont29) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Unknown Status.Jul 23 2019, 3:50 PM
Bastien Montagne (mont29) claimed this task.

Think that’s expected currently, as using 'redo' panel effectively performs an undo/redo, which implies a full update of the scene (including that super-heavy mesh subsurf to be recomputed)…
