zooming and rotating around selected object in scene with larger scale with mouse middle button in perspective view causes 3D viewport to go blank (zoomed out of view clipping??) it does not happen when using UI icons on top right
also the "+" (zooming) UI button is reversed imo - should go closer when dragging mouse UP and vice versa (same direction as mouse scroll).
does not happen when in orthographic view
super annoying :(

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
just zoom with the mouse middle scroll or ctrl midlle lcick or rotate with middle press... does not happen when using UI buttons.

shaqualeek renamed this task from zooming and rotating around selected object in scene with larger scale with mouse middle button in perspective view causes viewport to go blank (zoom out of clipping??) to zooming and rotating around selected object in scene with larger scale with mouse middle button in perspective view causes 3D viewport to go blank (zoomed out of view clipping??) .Jul 14 2019, 9:51 PM
shaqualeek updated the task description. (Show Details)

This happens here for any zooming (even a single mouse-wheel movement),
it looks to be related to divide by zero caused by a very large clip far distance.

Checked and this works in 2.79, so it would be good if it can be supported for 2.8x.

@Jeroen Bakker (jbakker) / @Clément Foucault (fclem) ?

Campbell Barton (campbellbarton) lowered the priority of this task from 90 to Low.Jul 15 2019, 12:41 AM

This might be related to clipping and floating point precision issues.

Richard Antalik (ISS) changed the subtype of this task from "Report" to "Bug".
Clément Foucault (fclem) changed the task status from Confirmed to Needs Information from User.Jun 23 2020, 11:51 PM

I cannot reproduce anymore. Was this fixed?

This but only happened with auto-depth enabled.
