Blender Version: Official V 2.80

I found an interesting bug that have to do with geometry.

In left I have the same geometry as in the right, but with extra caps.
However the differance is in performance, as when I move a vertex in left is really slow.
But if you try to move a vertex in the right object you will find that is work fast and reposnsive.

I have attached the file as well.

Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) lowered the priority of this task from 90 to 30.Aug 7 2019, 11:17 AM

There are known performance issues with the subdivision modifier, see T58191.

However, this file also has some non-optimal modeling for the caps [non-clamped bevels etc.,]
Here is a file that has the caps [not claiming visual parity to you file, but I hope you get the point] and is still reasonably fast:

That being said, it would be good to have a simple file that shows when exactly these slowdowns are introduced.
In your file, there might be lots of operations done from the fast to the slow version, making it very hard to reproduce where exactly this happens...

Will mark for "needs information from user" until we have simple reproduction steps in regards to where slowdowns are introduced...

Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) renamed this task from Slow editing to Slow subdivision surface modifier.Aug 7 2019, 11:17 AM

I'm disappointed...

@pistol ioan (pistoltoto) : why is that? You can still help track down the issue, and generally the subd issues are a known thing to be tackled sooner than later...
