Description
The selection with the Left Mouse Button is a game changer for us – and probably for many newcomers to Blender – since it allows an interaction with the content of the scene that is deeply rooted in our habits.
We spotted a behavior that is different from left to right mouse button mode and it is quite a constraint for us because it slows our work when manipulating the vertices of an object.
In Right Mouse Button mode, in Vertex Edit mode and with one of the 4 Transform tools activated, it is possible to pick a vertex and move it directly afterward, in the same action and without having to release the mouse button. This is pretty efficient.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
In Left Mouse Button mode though the action has to be done in 2 times:

  • Click on a vertex and release the mouse button to select it;
  • Then click again and move the mouse to move it.

If we try to do it in a single action nothing happens since the target vertex is not selected.

This is not really a bug, but different tradeoff. It's because selection & action happens on the same mouse button, so left click select works a bit differently.

To be able to click and move items immediately, use the Select tool:

William Reynish (billreynish) changed the task status from Unknown Status to Unknown Status.Aug 26 2019, 10:18 PM

Thank you William.

Indeed the turnaround works quite well, thanks for the tip.
