Grease Pencil - Mist Pass, ZDepth and others can't see GP Objects
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

System Information
Operating system: Ubuntu
Graphics card: GeForce 750 Ti

Blender Version
Broken: (example: 2.80, edbf15d3c044, master, 2018-11-28, as found on the splash screen)

Short description of error
While Grease Pencil objects can be rendered ordinarily just fine, other information about them -- such as their Z position, Mist, etc. -- doesn't seem to appear in the Compositor. They're practically invisible, and therefore tedious to composite well (in my case, I'll have to separate them into collections in order to do so, which can be a pain if there are too many objects).

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Add GP Suzanne drawing. Duplicate her many times till it's further than the camera. Enable ZDepth or Mist Pass and play around with the range. Render.

Now, in the compositor, you'll be able to see the GP objects show up just fine through the "Image" pass, but not the ZDepth or Mist pass.

Event Timeline

Grease Pencil is like an overlay and there is no relationship with other 3D elements. There are future plans for this (as Daniel M. Lara explained in his bconf19 talk), but now it's not possible.

Anyway, thanks for your report, but the issue reported here is a request for modified/improved behavior and not a bug in current behavior. Closing as this bug tracker is only for bugs and errors.
