Short description of error
When I open a project and I select an object, it becomes transparent with only a sort of silhouette...

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
It happens randomly and forces me to relaunch blender. But when I select the object it disappears again and I can't do anything but select Cycles renderer to make my object appear but I can't select it.
I then collapse the 3d window that shows the problem and I create a new one. After clicking on several objects, Ax2 to select all, unselect all, select my object, it becomes selectable and I can work...

PS : The material preview is also extremely slow when I tweak nodes (connections) on a material, it's almost unusable and I must use Cycles. I'm missing the old blender internal, sometimes.

Event Timeline

In fact when I go back to cycles, the object is appearing but I can't select it either. However I can select lights etc...

Mind sharing your blendfile?

I can reproduce this issue - objects sometimes disappear. Closing and re-opening fixes it. Also on macOS FWIW.

Open the blend file, select the Area.001 light. Delete it. Select the Plane.001 object (in the viewport, not in the Outliner) = it disappears.

FWIW (didn't know that abbreviation ;)
If you do the same thing : Open the blend file, select the Area.001 light (in the outliner). Delete it. Select the Plane.001 object in the Outliner = it doesn't disappear !
Perhaps it can help you great and courageous devs.

Nope, still all fine here...

Could be related to a report I did that has been solved : T68826 ?

This is happening for me too, MAC version. Exactly as described.
