Worked: never

Short description of error
UDIM: filling a secondary tile with a generated image before you fill the first tile wont actually fill the tile... you have to fill the first tile to actually see anything...

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open file
  • In the Image Editor > Image Tab (sidebar) > UDIM Tiles panel you should see two tiles [1001 and 1002]
  • both tiles are not filled yet
  • select the 1002 tile (should be selected already)
  • execute the Fill Tile operator
  • UDIM token is added to the tile, but it is not filled

This was already mentioned in T72487: UDIMs: Loss of texture information after saving., but reporting here separately as requested by @Lukas Stockner (lukasstockner97).

Note this already had an answer there:

is expected, but should be communicated better, probably by disabling the tile operators until the first tile is filled

Currently it isn't possible to fill the second tile without filling the first tile. Should we close this one?

Yeah, rB850aa3a6cfe1: Image Editor: Disable tile operators if tile 1001 is missing was committed after this report was created, so.... guess it could be closed.
