Operating system:MacOs 10.15.2
Graphics card:AMD Vega 64

Blender Version
2.82 2020-02-12

Short description of error
Startup quits before splash screen. Leaves msg "unexpected error occurs"
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Start bender using command O or double click
  2. wait 5-10 secs,
  3. read error dialog

4.Curse quietly under your breath

  • update your macOS
  • temporarily move ~/Library/Application Support/Blender somewhere else and retry.

there are two library folders, /Library/ (you're looking here) and /Users/me/Library (this one is same as ~/Library) https://apple.stackexchange.com/a/186378/313842

There is only 1 Application Support folder I think. I didn't receive blender player with downloadæcould it be a bad download?

open finder, hit ++. ; then ++G; enter the path ~/Library/Application Support/Blender. Move the Blender folder somewhere else temporarily. retry opening blender. though you can always try a fresh download..

Please use this article to reach Application Support folder & remove Blender folder from there. & retry.
