System Information
Operating system: Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS
Graphics card: Intel Iris(R) Plus Graphics (Ice Lake 6x8 GT1.5)
Blender Version
Broken: 2.82 (no other version info on splash screen)
Worked: 2.-- (before the Jan/Feb Update, it was Working Amazingly!)
*I was using the 2019 version on the Ubuntu Snap Store.
Ever Since 2.82, I have Been Having Problems
Short description of error
While working on any file, including a new file from scratch,
(using Factory Settings)
All functions operate properly until "it" happens;
-> -> -> Keyboard Stops Working Completely (only in Blender)...
Keyboard is frozen even in Save Dialogue.
Happens Whenever! No Rhyme or Reason:
- It doesn't matter which shapes I am using,
- Happens when no-modifiers and no materials are being used,
- Happens Spontaneously (sometimes within seconds of working a file, sometimes I can work on a file for thirty minutes)
- Will happen in Edit Mode, Object Mode, moving objects, resizing objects, renaming objects....pretty much anytime, any view mode.
Also note, it is unlikely any other programs
are causing this as my resources and memory
are operating perfectly, and my internet and
radio are turned off.
*Keyboard ceases function in Blender
on all keyboards including:
external keyboard, and on
laptop keyboard [external keyboard unplugged]- Keyboard still works properly for **
- all other Ubuntu functions and programs -
If I open the file again, a few clicks into the file, the problem replicates.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
A. Making a Super-Simple Person
- Open New File
- Add Meshes
- Reshape Edit Mode
- Re-size and Re-position Sphere
- Rename Cube
- [Attempt] Rename Sphere
Keyboard No Longer Works inside Blender.
Keyboard still works for all other Ubuntu functions and programs.
This will occur at any time, and does not seem to have any corresponding previous operation.
Atachments Based on the default startup (as simple as possible).

--------------------------------I was enjoying the previous Blender Soo Much!
I was Learning, and
Practicing, and
making some really cool sh##!
I haven't even moved any of my projects over back over to my computer yet
in fear of destroying them.
I am still practicing with 2.82, even though it is really tedious and
completely unproductive to all of my real projects;
I am having to restart Blender, constantly.
(I'm just using it now to continue practicing and
invetigate this Crazy Bug, arrghh!)
[Previous Attempts to Fix]
- Initially, when the problem started, directly upon recieving undesired update 2.82 (happened automaically), my System Resources where off the chart insane (in a bad way)... All cores (i5) where operating at erractically high and low percentages. It looked like the Spaghetti Monster. Very Frustrated and slowly (as my resources were drained) I uninstalled and re-installed numerous times.
- I did a back-up, and a fresh install of Ubuntu and update.
--System Resources are back to normal and No More Spaghetti--
I installed Blender using Ubuntu Snap Store, and the keyboard problem is still there. *I am using a stripped down system at the moment:
Only Blender, GimP and gnomeTweaks.
**Blender is my Priority and I am trying torule out other software interfering or corrupting.
- I took a break from trying to figure it out for a while, about two weeks, then tried Ubuntu Updates and un-Install/Re-Install Blender. Problem Persists...
*Note: my System Resources are just fine now,
See the screenshot with my System Monitor,
It was taken at time of crash.
-Also Note: I am willing to change OS and/or System,
JUST to be able to Use: Blender at it's Fullest Potential:)
any And all recomendations are appreciated!
- Post Script !!! **
Thank you all Blender Developers...
This is probably my Favorite program, Ever!!
Only been using since January,
and I love it !
I can't wait to fix it so I can try out Cloth Scuplting;)
