Short description of error
When adding a light to the scene, the grease pencil objects don't react to it.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open new 2D Animation file
  2. Select the Grey "Solid Fill" material.
  3. Draw a shape.
  4. exit into Object mode
  5. Add a Light. (and orient it to object depending on light selected)

@Berbank Green (Berbank) Did you try to give your light source a higher Power (Watt)?

Edit: Light reacts to Suzanne (with 1000 Watt) but not for own drawings.

Confirmed. Light works with Suzanne (but not all the time) and doesn't with my own grease pencil objects.

The way I've done it in the original post it doesn't work.
However if you:

  1. Start a General scene
  2. Delete cube
  3. Add GP Suzanne

The light works and additional GP objects also seems to work.

Be sure of these:

  1. GP Object must have enabled lighting (see Object properties in properties panel). For old files this can be disabled.

  1. Layer must be enabled for lighting. For old files this can be disabled.

  1. Your shading mode must be Render:

@Antonio Vazquez (antoniov) I had missed the one needed in the Object properties but got the other ones.
Thank you, all works with both Object and Layer lighting enabled.
