Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Blender 2.82a (Grease Pencil Object)

Short description of error When you place three objects one in front of the others the one behind overlap the one that is inbetween.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

Could you test in 2.83? All these issues have been fixed in the refactor we did in 2.83.

Yes, It is fixed in 2.83. Thank you! However, when I opened the created 2.82a file with new version (2.83) I lost all the Grease Pencil Effects. I will try to append the objects or find other ways to maintain the effects. If you have an answer I will appreciated. Thanks again!

You just need set RENDER mode. The FX are only visible in that mode. This changed in the refactor we did in 2.83.

Note that some FX has changed and need manual tweaks to get same result.

As the main reason of the bug is solved, I'm going to close the report.
