Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Unfortunately my blend file is far too big to attach. I have a scene with a smoke domain and several particle emitters. I am rendering with cycles on the gpu and the cpu.

I am rendering from the background (shown below). It will render fine for ~20 frames then it will crash. Upon restarting the render it will crash on the same frame again. If I restart the render enough it will eventually go another 20 frames. I have found it is much faster to restart my computer and it will allow me to render another ~20 frames.

blender -b name.blend -a

Event Timeline

Here is another crash file.

Ankit Meel (ankitm) renamed this task from Segmentation Fault (Core Dumped) to Crash after rendering every 20 frames on both CPU & GPU.Apr 18 2020, 5:29 PM

Unfortunately my blend file is far too big to attach

What you can do is remove unnecessary elements till it is small + buggy.
Then you may compress it & upload it.

This blend file does it.

I found that if I turn rendering with my CPU off it no longer crashes.

@Alex Simon (Rampagy) I am looking at older reports, is this still an issue? Or have anything changed?

It is no longer an issue for me.
