Short description of error
It is hard, intermittent or impossible to change the data type (socket color) of Shader AOVs from the Shader AOV box on the View Layer Properties tab, judging from how they appear in the Render Layer node in the Compositor.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Create one or more Shader AOVs. Look at them on the Render Layer node in the Compositor. Try to change their data type.

The Type seems to update fine when renaming, but changing the type only indeed doesnt...

Yes, and if you change the name and manage to change the data type that way, changing the name back again reverts the data type, so a certain AOV name 'gets stuck' with a certain data type.

True, a pass just seems to be registered once (and not "re-registered" - if there is even such a thing...)
