Short description of error
Inconsistent display of GP objects in solid view. Toggle between Vertex Paint mode and Draw mode:

This is not a bug. When you enable Vertex Paint mode, the shading mode is set automatically to Vertex Mode (as it's done with meshes).

I guess you Draw in in Solid mode Material but when you switch to Vertex Mode, is set to Solid Vertex, and by default the vertex color is white, so you don't see anything.
