Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows-7-6.1.7601-SP1 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 660 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 442.59

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.90 (sub 2), branch: master, commit date: 2020-05-18 09:05, hash: rBf3edff2d7d60
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
If I keep shrinking voxel size, grid loose vertical lines.
btw what «%» means? There should be «m» (meters) i think.

Event Timeline

Richard Antalik (ISS) changed the task status from Needs Triage to Confirmed.May 19 2020, 1:44 PM

It is probably not intended, but just in few more steps further whole grit would fade away anyway. This is probably due to object not having 1:1:1 proportions in all 3 axes, so it may be much more visible in wide / tall objects.
Perhaps size could be in meters or length unit, but currently it is in % of objects boundbox (longest side it seems).

Other usability issues:
Text is scaled with object so with negative scale it is not well readable.
When you accidentally choose size 0.0001% you can not change it anymore with shift+R

Pablo Dobarro (pablodp606) claimed this task.

This is intended to avoid rendering a huge number of lines and make the preview lag at lower voxels sizes. The speed at the operator controls the voxel size changes depending on the starting size to avoid jumping directly to a much bigger number of polygons. You can still change to any value by pressing Ctrl.

@Pablo Dobarro (pablodp606) as someone said, why don`t you use shader for grid? It will be drawn at screenspace without such limitation.
If you mind so, I can try different variants and will find fastest one.
