shadow artifact with a large mesh when the surface is close to the origin of the scene with cycle viewport rendered and render.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
- Create UV sphere
- Scale it up to 100
- move it to have surface close to scene origin
- Active viewport Cycles render
