SculptDraw brush does not work; shows trailing red line
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

System Information
Operating system: Linux / Ubuntu 20.04 LTS 64-bit
Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics (CHV)

Blender Version
Broken: 2.90.0 281319653e5b
Worked: Unknown

Description

The ScultDraw brush shows a trailing red line when in use. It is not functional. If the cursor is outside the mesh, the line doesn't appear until the cursor is over the mesh. However the line continues to be visible when the cursor exits the mesh again. All other brushes functions normally. If the brush icon is remapped to the Draw Sharp brush, it functions normally.

I'm unable to reproduce the bug from scratch. Please use the .blend linked below.

Seems to work as expected. Please provide a short screen recording that shows the issue.

I noticed that you set the brush strength to a relatively low value. Maybe you want to increase it a bit, not sure if that is related to your problem.

Doesn't work. Tried anywhere from 10 to 1000px.

I don't have a screen recording software right now. It's a red line extending from the position the cursor had some frames before to the current cursor position.

I was talking about the brush strength, not the brush size.

Brush strength of 1 had some interesting effects. Maybe it's a setting that got turned on? If so you should also be able to reproduce it from the file.

The brush is being applied at the trailing endpoint instead of the current position of the cursor.

Oh, you might not know that. The red line is part of the "Stabilize Stroke" feature. You can turn it off in the "Stroke" popover menu. Does that solve the issue?
