Worked:

Short description of error
With Cycles renderer, if "Auto Depth" is enabled, when we change the viewport shading to "Render" and we click without dragging with the scroll-wheel, the viewport overlays disappear.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Go to Preferences>Navigation;
  • enable "Auto Depth" option;
  • Set "Cycles" as render engine;
  • change the 3D viewport shading mode to "Rendered";
  • click anywhere in the 3D viewport with the scroll-wheel.

Here a simple file where the bug, at least on my computer, is happening:

I cannot reproduce this with either the latest stable or current development versions of Blender.

Please try the latest daily build: https://builder.blender.org/download/

Go to File → Defaults → Load Factory Settings and then enable Auto Depth to see if you still can reproduce this issue.
If the problem persists, please give us more clear instructions on how to reproduce it from scratch.

Hi Germano, unfortunately after trying the latest build with the factory settings the problem still persists. Considering that I really don't know how can I give additional instructions, I can only send you a simple file where the bug, at least on my computer, is happening.

It's a not a big problem, but it's annoying to not even understanding why. The only thing I'm thinking is that it might be connected with a recent update I did of both my graphics cards on my pc (Intel 530 and GTX 965M). Otherwise, I really have no idea.

Germano Cavalcante (mano-wii) updated the task description. (Show Details)

I can't reproduce the problem, I'll leave the ticked open in case someone from the Cycles team can take a look.

In the meantime you can try these suggestions for graphic errors:

Does this happen only in rendered mode and only with cycles?
Grid and axes are not drawn with cycles engine.

Precisely, in other modes or with EEVEE this doesn't happen.

@slowk1d (Geronimooo) I am looking at older reports, is this still an issue? Or have anything changed?

Hi, it's me I had to change account for email reasons. Still an issue for me, I'm on a different computer from the original report but it is still happening.

Thanks for update. Can you provide current GPU model so I can update report?
