Blender 2.45 and 2.44 both run too slowly. Menus take .5 second to appear, and adding a simple plane takes 3-4 seconds. Scaling the plane causes ~5 second lag between mouse movement and visual feedback. Selecting vertexes in edit mode takes ~1 second between right click and the selection being registered.
However, translation and rotating the view port works fine. This behaviour occurs with and without spaces enabled.
Blender on this same machine under Tiger had more than acceptable performance. As far as I can tell this issue is strictly confined to Leopard on macs with GMA graphics.
Cheers,
Steve

Sorry I wasn't clear in my original report.
GMA is the family of graphics cards used in macbooks. The graphics card in my model of the macbook (early 2007) uses GMA 950: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_GMA#GMA_950
Current models of macbooks use GMA X3100: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_GMA#GMA_X3100

Steve
