Incorrect-looking selection outlines on some GPUs (Blender 2.83+)
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

Since I tried version 2.83, the orange outlines in my laptop PC started to look incorrect, like double-outlines, but nothing like this on other machines. This bug is still present in version 2.9a (3623db7784b3). This is an insignificant bug, however, it can be a sign of some hardware bugs which can grow out in the future developing process. I'm using the ATI HD7650M GPU with Intel HD3000 assistance.

Thanks for the report. This GPU is below the minimum requirements for Blender, so there is no longer support for it. https://www.blender.org/download/requirements/

Installing the latest graphics driver sometimes helps to make such GPUs work, see here for more information. https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/gpu/index.html

If that doesn't help, you can use Blender 2.79: https://www.blender.org/download/previous-versions/

2.79 is too far, 2,8+ is still usable on my GPU, it's just this strange artifact that appeared after 2.83. It's better than Error r6025 which I got earlier and was caused by a bad driver. Also, I found out that the artifact is not presented in the Linux version, just the outline changed to a reddish hue, so I will prefer the Linux version since it hasn't any signs for instability so far. Thanks!
