Description

System Information

Graphics card: RTX 2080 Super

Blender Version
Broken: 2.83.2, 2.90 Alpha

Short description of error
Standalone curve points that are created using Ctrl+Rightclick have extremely low or high (inf) Weight and Radius values, making the entire segment unable to be extruded or beveled. This only happens on disconnected, new segments - extruding existing points or doing Ctrl+Rightclick while another (working) point is selected create more working points.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Create a Bezier curve
  • Switch to Edit Mode
  • Deselect all existing points
  • create standalone curve points using Ctrl + Rightclick (assuming leftclick-select)
  • pick one of the new points and observe strange values, both for Weight and Radius

Hans Goudey (HooglyBoogly) changed the subtype of this task from "Report" to "Bug".

Thanks for the report, I can reproduce this here. This can also cause an assert to fail.

Note that this doesn't happen if you delete all of the points and there are none left before placing a point.
