Event Timeline

@Andreas Kjaergaard (AndreasX) do you have backup of this file that works (.blend1 file)? Can you remember what you did before you were unable to open file again?

Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) claimed this task.

This is due to the mesh Factory Unit 54 being corrupt.
You can check this by appending that mesh (not the object!) to a blank file and run

bpy.data.meshes['Factory Unit 54'].validate(verbose=True)

The above will spit out an endless list of a broken polysoup:

  • Edge XXX: v1 index out of range
  • Edge XXX: v2 index out of range
  • Edge XXX: has matching verts, both XXX
  • Poly XXX needs missing edge (XXX, XXX)

So that mesh is completely corrupted.

On the other hand: everything else can be appended to a new file without problems, so you should be able to recover everything except Factory Unit 54.

So thanks for the report, but unfortunately unless there are clear instructions on how to reproduce it from scratch we cannot debug this any further.
Things that may cause mesh corruption: Importers, development versions of Blender, modeling tools.

So will close for now, but if you find the reason why this got corrupted, feel free to comment again and we can always reopen in that case..
