Short description of error
immediate crash when baking
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
open file, select plane, hit bake. happens on cpu and gpu, resetting to factory defaults did not resolve.
No crash here (can only test CPU atm)

Since you were mentioning the Mapping node in T79480 as well, I suspect this has something to do with it?
Does this work in 2.90 beta or 2.83.3?
I don't think it's related because I wasn't using a compositor in this report whereas I was in the other one (and disabling the compositor in the other report allowed me to render)
@michael campbell (3di) can you check if the issue happens on 2.90 too? You can download it from https://builder.blender.org .
The crash stacktrace is the same in both reports. (this and T79480)
I couldn't redo the crash on rBe56ff76db5b44ae6784a26ff6daf9864b2387712 (CPU).
Please retry on recent Blender version.

@michael campbell (3di) I can't reproduce this either. Can you please if this happens in a current build?
No activity for more than a week. As per the tracker policy we assume the issue is gone and can be closed.
