I can't understand the problem from the video.
In the video you can't tell when you click with the mouse or which button was clicked.

A better description of the problem is needed.

Blender 2.90 yes there vertex and edge appear also object mode can select.
Blender 2.91 not work doesn't appear vertex and edge.
Only for Mac.

@Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) check above youtube to show you. @Germano Cavalcante (mano-wii) can't understand. I thought you understand where mouse go without speak.
I am full deaf and I do know sign language.
