Short description of error
So when you activate the bevel modifier, it shouldn't make it so that you can now see the individual flat faces of the mesh, but it does?

With Bevel Turned off, smooth shading

With Bevel modifier turned on, smooth shading. See how the individual faces are now showing? Why?

Here's a file with a random cube, with bevel turned off:

With Bevel turned on:

shouldn't the faces be smooth irrespective to the bevel modifier?

Thanks

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
[Please describe the exact steps needed to reproduce the issue]
[Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible)]

Event Timeline

You have the limit method set to none which means every edge will be beveled. Turn on wire frame mode to see it.

Should you have questions like these in the future, I suggest taking a look at Blender Stack Exchange.

This is not a bug.
The generated mesh is the expected one for the defined configurations.
And the visualized geometry is the expected result in any application that uses OpenGL.
