Cannot hide/unhide objects properly
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

System Information
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER

Blender Version
Broken: 2.90.0, 2020-08-31 11:26, 0330d1af29c0, master

Short description of error
I cannot see vertices of some area but only a mesh in Edit mode. When I hit ‘Alt+H’ to unhide the object, everything returns to normal. However, I still cannot see or select these vertices in Weight Paint mode.

Additionally, some area of a mesh that have this problem do not move properly while weights are correctly painted.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open attached .blend file.
  2. Select an object, and go to Edit mode and Weight Paint mode.

Thank you very much for taking your time!

Event Timeline

Think this was caused by the following bug(s) T80771: Mode switching hides vertices in Edit mode (Weight paint / Sculpt mode --> Edit mode) or T80801: jumping from sculptmode to edit mode automatically hide certain vertex.
This was fixed already in 2.91 (so doing stuff in sculptmode should not trigger this bug anymore).
Solution is to go into sculptmode and do the Alt+H there, then this is propagated to both editmode and weightpaint mode as well.

So effectively, this is a duplicate of T80771, will merge these reports.

Hi Philipp, Thank you so much for your prompt response. It works!
