Can you please check if this issue also occurs in Blender 2.83 and 2.91?

Thank’s to Robert reply, I tried to use the latest version 2.91, but the problem remains. Now I‘m testing the 2.83.7 version, and it seems that no crash has occurred.

Thank you for checking. Does this only occur in a particular project or does this also happen with the default cube scene? If this happens in a particular project, please create a copy of the .blend file and remove everything that is not relevant to the error. Upload the minimal .blend file that still exhibits the issue to your bug report.

It happens in a particular project, I have uploaded the minimal .blend file.

@Wang Yuanqing (yuanqing_w) Can you check if you have enough free RAM? How much RAM do you have?

I have 32GB of RAM, which only takes up about 25GB when rendering.

I tested that this happens in versions above 2.90. It is normal when used after a clean install. After repeated rendering several times, it starts to crashes and closes blender.
And preview in views has also become unstable, often closes blender. The 2.83.7 is very normal and stable.

@Wang Yuanqing (yuanqing_w) Can you try to simplify file even more? I guess you would need to simplify the actual mesh here.

The file is too big for me to do anything to it.

Because my scene is very large, it requires a lot of subdivision grids to reproduce the natural water wave effect of raindrops falling on the water surface. I tried to simplify or rebuild the water mesh, this problem may not happen. This problem occurred after I added particles and dynamic painting and baked it. The baked physics file is too big, so I not provided together. I don't know which step produced it.

The baked physics file is too big, so I not provided together.

You also don't mention this step in steps to reproduce though. This may be important I think.

Without being able to reproduce the issue there is nothing we can do. I can get more RAM to check this, but please make sure we have all informations we need.

You can bake the physical files yourself, because the physical files are about 580GB in size, I can’t provide them. But the missing physical files should not affect the crash and closing of blender during rendering.

That is insane amount of data. I don't even have drive handy to store that.

As I said, I will try to confirm when I get more RAM, but we may still need either steps to create this file or simplify it.

Oops did not want to change status.

Hello Richard, thanks for reply me. I have created a new blender file and appended the objects in the original file to this new file. Now this file size is reduced to 400MB, and then I used the blender 2.90.1 cycles to render this scence crash and closing again.

This is the blender file I resubmitted.

I have looked at your file with 64GB RAM and had no crash. Memory usage was ~32GB during rendering.

In some cases Blender needs to allocate continuous array for large blocks, so even if you have free memory, but it is fragmented, it can cause crash.
If you can't simplify example file beyond this point, it's very likely you run out of memory, but this is not considered a bug.

So please simplify your example file and check if you can reproduce this issue.

Thank you Richard. After I replaced the RTX3080 graphics card, I no longer had the problem of crash and closing. It should be caused by insufficient video memory.

Your report says, that you used Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630 Intel 4.5.0 - Build 27.20.100.8280 GPU.

In some sases windows doesn't detect "correct" GPU to be used with Blender so this may have been the problem if you had different dedicated GPU.

In any case, I'm glad this is resolved. Thanks for reporting.
