Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19041-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1660/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 442.92

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.90.1, branch: master, commit date: 2020-09-23 06:43, hash: rB3e85bb34d0d7
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
When in edit mode on a Text, 3D cursor now is moved with left click, when it should be "Shift+Right Click", since I have Blender by default with "Left Click Select".

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open Blender, create a new text, enter edit mode, and it automatically changes to "Right Click Select". If you go back to "Object mode" it switches back to "Left clic Select".

Shift+Right Click still works, no?

Since there are no selection tools in text editmode, you are automatically in the Cursor tool

This is why you have the "additional" Left+click also moving the cursor.

This being said, this does not look like a bug, will close (but feel free to comment again if issues persist)

It's very annoying, in my opinion. Coudn't it be a move tool instead? Why can't I move the text while editing?

Text positioning of letters in editmode depends on other things (kerning etc) or is more or less automatic and cannot be moved freely

Since there are no selection tools in text editmode, you are automatically in the Cursor tool

Then maybe change the automatic tool to other less intrusive?
