Bevel modifier with vertex group limit method is not working

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.71 - 2.92.0
Worked: version: 2.70 before rB2a8f6e2f

Short description of error
In the 2.79 Release you can change the weight of the vertex group getting diferent bevel´s results.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I left this easy example when you can check that since 2.8xx release this parameter is broken.
Only I can get to have activated or no the bevel.

I imported the file into blender 2.79 and the result is the same. So I can't reproduce the problem.

Yes, I tested this in 2.79 too. Even though I agree that it should be possible to do this, the fact that you can't is more of a feature request than a bug report.

Anyway, you can vary the offset of the bevel by using bevel weights. More flexible ways to control this should come with geometry nodes in the not-too-distant future.
