Short description of error
One of the custom curve bevels is rotated 180 degrees from the others.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup, I created a cylinder with 32 vertices, deleted all the faces and the top and bottom edges so only 32 edges remained. Converted it to curve. Created a Nurbs Circle with an asymmetrical shape. Went to the cylinder's Object Data Properties->Geometry->Bevel->Object and selected the Nurbs Circle. All of the 32 cylinder's edges displayed the custom curve fine except for the one at 12 o'clock which was rotated 180 degrees.

.

I tried it with 8 and 31 vertices; same problem.

Love your work!

Well, the direction of the splines with different bevel is reversed.
This can sometimes happen with the process described.

One solution to the problem is:

  • In edit mode, select the different spline/segment
  • Go to the Segments tab and select Switch Segments

Although we can make the extrude operator more predictable, I'm not sure if this is a bug as I'm not sure what defines the direction of a segment created from a point.
If you want to check the direction of the segments, you can enable the option Draw Normals in the viewport overlays.

Is this information useful and in any way?

Hans Goudey (HooglyBoogly) renamed this task from A custom bevel associated with edges is rotated 180 degrees from the others to A curve bevel segment associated with edges is rotated 180 degrees from the others.Dec 29 2020, 6:43 PM

No activity for more than a week. As per the tracker policy we assume the issue is gone and can be closed.

Thanks for the report. If the problem persists please open a new report with the required information.

Thanks! Switch Direction fixed that one wayward segment and the custom bevel is now rotated to look like the others. Also, this behavior isn't "sometimes" it is consistent, at least as far as what I am doing. Your suggestion to check the Normals checkbox was most revealing.

For what it is worth, here are some screen prints showing...

The mesh cylinder and its normals...

The mesh cylinder after removing the faces and top/bottom edges...

Lastly, the mesh cylinder after converting it to a curve...

That one segment looks like me at the HS prom trying to find a dance partner.
