Description

Not sure this is a bug and not just me not understanding to how to use the feature.

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19041-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1660/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 461.33

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.93.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-03-04 06:43, hash: rBef7efc375197
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
Creating new Collection in the Object Properties is not reflected in the Outliner editor.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Properties Editor/Object Properties/Collections

Click on the '+' button to add new collection. It doesn't appear in the Outliner.

  1. Also, New Collections created here appear with the .002 type of suffix whilst Collections created in the Outliner don't.

There has been some disucsison about this in T53662: Usability issues with old group operators (same thing has been reported multiple times)

There is already a patch for this, see D10042: Change operators to add new "group" collections to the scene

So thx reporting, will merge into T53662, lets continue discussion there.
