Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
vdbs and volumes are rendering blocky in cycles

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I know this is an old issue, I was told two versions ago that this should be fixed in the following version but still there in 2.92 (see image).

Unless there are some settings I don't know about. The attached image has two objects that were converted to volume and you can see sharp lines in the volume 'box'. Makes it pretty much unusable for professional work.

Event Timeline

Here's a quick few seconds of that cloud animated. Here's it's rotating slightly over about 70 frames. There's two clouds actually, one top left and one top right. Notice the squares.

Another quick note. The problem is greatly exaggerated at higher render sizes.

It does look similar to aspects of both of those. Such a shame as I use volumetrics in just about every scene. There's always high levels of noise alongside the blocky issue. Has there been any progress with the issue?

The developers are aware and the bug is already on the stack to be investigated.
Unfortunately, some problems take longer to be fixed.

I will merge the reports.
