Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • using the start up cube, add particle system,
  • press the hair button

it crashes

Without the crash logs it is hard to tell, but this looks very much like the already reported T84939: Blender Crashes when select Quick Fur or any hair related function.

Will merge these reports, but feel free to comment again if this is different from said report.
