I am having a hard time understanding the problem. Sculpting will always change the original mesh unless you use something like the multiresolution modifier. If you want to "sculpt" the displacement then you would want to use texture painting on the displacement texture. Am I misunderstanding something?

Thank you very much for answering my questions!!!!!
Add a Displace modifier to the original mesh. If you sculpt with this modifier in place, turn off the modifier and you will see the modifier marks on the location you sculpted.

I see what you mean. When the modifier is active, the sculpting result is different from when the modifier is inactive. I think this is a bug, so I will confirm this.

Julien Kaspar (JulienKaspar) changed the subtype of this task from "Report" to "Known Issue".

I'd tag this as a known issue. This is part of a bigger problem across all modifiers when entering sculpt mode. We still need a proper design to give the user the option to either sculpt on the original cage or modified geoemtry.
