Short description of error
When I change viewpoint to camera the viewport is entirely black. Even though my scene contains only a camera (nothing to block its view). The blackness seems to be the passepartout, i don't understand why it's covering the entire viewport though.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open attached blend
Press numpad 0, the viewport turns black.

I can confirm this. Not sure what is going on here.

For anyone else experiencing this: opening a new file and appending the scene from the broken .blend allowed me to continue working. the bug didn't persist in the new file.

This does not look like a bug.

You've got a black (1.0) Passepartout on the Camera and are zoomed / shifted to only see "out of bounds".
So you are only looking at the Passepartout.

In camera view use View > Cameras > Frame Camera Bounds and you should be fine.
Will close, but feel free to comment again if issues persist.

ah thank you! that makes sense.
