Blender Version
Broken: 3.0, 17243337d731, master, 2021-07-31 18:26
Worked: 2.83.16

Adding a driver won't show the driven property colored, but, the driver will still work as expected and affect the property

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Create new file
  • On any mesh, right click the locks on the transforms in the side N pannel
  • Add a new driver
  • Driver won't be visible but still work
NOTE: The lock in the object property's will be colored, but the lock on the N pannel will not

Seems to be caused by D9902, since changing those buttons to UI_EMBOSS_NONE_OR_STATUS appears to fix the problem.

@Hans Goudey (HooglyBoogly) I don't know the specifics of your differential, but it's best if you take a look.
