When working with the Child Of constraint the Select To Cursor command does not work correctly.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open attached file
  • In the 3d View press +S and Select To Cursor

Original Report:
When working with the Child Of constraint, it is impossible to use it several times by enabling and disabling the influence of the constraint.
He second time the offset is different and the child object jumps away from the desired position.
It's hard to put it in the right place. I tried to use a 3D cursor for this, but the Select To Cursor command does not work correctly when working with this the Child Of constraints.

This sounds more like workflow issue than a bug.

If you think this is bug, please provide steps to reproduce the bug.
If this is workflow issue please consult this issue in community websites: https://www.blender.org/community/

I have uploaded a blender file. Try to bind the pyramid in frame 175 so that it does not roll to the side. I could not. Also, I could not set it off either to the 3D cursor, or to an empty object.
I also uploaded a video file in it showing the process and the problem associated with it.

Ok I understand now what you are trying to do. In video you keyed visual location with modifier disabled, then when you enable modifier it will jump. that is not a bug because visual location is same as actual location with modifier disabled.

I think, that snapping should work in this case, but not sure. @Germano Cavalcante (mano-wii) can you check?

Hi. May I take part in the discussion? ...

The 3D cursor must always be in a visually correct position in the world - otherwise, for what need (3Dcursor to selected) !!!

Ideally, the cursor should also receive angles degrees, so that later the object can be positioned with angles by (selected to 3Dcursor). - but it will probably be in version 4.00 ))

Germano Cavalcante (mano-wii) changed the subtype of this task from "Report" to "Bug".

This is indeed a bug.
D7780: Transform: Replace View3d Snap operators with a transform ops version is a patch that would solve this problem.

This function does not work for me in version 2.9
