System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.19041-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 471.68

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.0.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-08-28 20:38, hash: rB4256eeeec4ca
Worked: none of the 3.0 versions I tested it with.

Short description of error
After following the instructions on Blender Wiki-Asset Browser, not the Data-Blocks nor Mark Asset are showed anywhere.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

In Preferences, I've chosen 2 directories to create my Asset Browser Libraries that contain blender files inside. From there:

  1. Open a new Blender
  2. Open Asset Browser: in Tools, are missing the Data-Blocks (Scenes, Animation, Object, Shading...)

  1. When I try to Mark Asset by RMB -> ID Data, Mark Asset option is missing.

Noke (noke) added a project: Asset Browser.

The asset browser is limited in functionality by default. To get the full functionality of the asset browser you need to enable support for it's "experimental features"

To do this:

  1. Select from the top of Blender Edit -> Preferences and a window should appear.
  2. In that window select the Interface tab and enable Developer Extras
  3. Now a new tab should appear called Experimental. Select it and enable Extended Asset Browser. Now you should have the full asset browser available to you.
Alaska (Alaska) changed the task status from Needs Triage to Needs Information from Developers.Sep 14 2021, 7:54 AM

This should probably be explained on the Blender wiki for the asset browser, so I'd like to request a developer with access to it to go and change it. (https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Reference/Release_Notes/3.0/Asset_Browser)

As mentioned, the mentioned features were moved behind an experimental feature flag. Currently only pose assets are supported by default.
Added a note to the release notes although these are quite temporary anyway.
